Program Priorities & Experience
Cloverleaf Priorities
Community
Joining Cloverleaf means becoming part of a connected and supportive community of homeschool families. Our classrooms are led by state-licensed teachers who are skilled in both their subject areas and in creating welcoming, inclusive environments where students feel known and valued.
Students build meaningful relationships with peers and trusted adults. They practice collaboration, empathy, and respect in a setting where curiosity and individuality are encouraged. Families are part of this experience as well, forming connections and supporting one another throughout the year.
Each spring, we gather feedback from families. Consistently, they share that students enjoy attending Cloverleaf, value their relationships with teachers, and feel supported in their learning.
Social/Emotional Learning
Supporting students’ social and emotional growth is a core part of the Cloverleaf experience. In 2019, we strengthened this focus by adding a dedicated daily block.
During this time, students explore topics such as how stress affects the brain, strategies for managing emotions, and building healthy friendships.
Our approach is guided by the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) framework, helping students develop:
- Self-Awareness
- Self-Management
- Social Awareness
- Relationship Skills
- Responsible Decision-Making
These skills support students not only in school, but in their confidence, relationships, and overall well-being.
Cloverleaf also utilizes Wayfinder, a research-backed PreK–12 curriculum developed in partnership with Stanford University’s d.school. Wayfinder expands on traditional social-emotional learning by helping students connect their personal strengths, values, and goals to a deeper sense of purpose.
Through this work, students build skills that support well-being, belonging, and direction. The focus is not only on managing emotions, but on helping students understand who they are, how they relate to others, and how they want to move through the world with intention.
Supporting Learning at Home
Cloverleaf is designed to complement your home-based education program, not replace it. Parents remain the primary instructors, guiding their child’s learning at home.
Families also have access to optional, no-cost supplementary curriculum provided by the school to support home instruction.
Expanded Learning Opportunities
Cloverleaf students have access to a range of learning experiences across Douglas County School District. High school students may enroll at the DCSD Legacy Campus and participate in Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses offered at DCSD high schools. In addition, middle and high school students can take up to two courses per quarter through eDCSD, offering flexible, online options to personalize their learning.
